Toledo Loses to Eastern Michigan at Home, 58-46

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo dropped a 58-46 decision against Eastern Michigan in Wednesday's Mid-American Conference match-up before 3,762 fans in Savage Arena. With the loss, the Rockets fall to 15-11 overall, 10-5 in the league.

UT was limited to 37.5 percent (18-of-48) from the field, including 27.3 percent (3-of-11) from three-point range, and 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from the charity stripe to suffer its fourth loss in the last five meetings against the Eagles (18-8, 9-6 MAC). The Midnight Blue & Gold came into tonight's conference showdown ranked third in overall field-goal percentage (42.4 percent) and fourth in three-point field-goal percentage (33.6 percent) in league games.

The Rockets were also victimized by 21 turnovers, which EMU translated into 22 points to help stretch its winning streak to five straight contests.

Redshirt freshman Mikaela Boyd paced UT with a season-tying best nine points off the bench. Sophomore Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott and freshman Kaayla McIntyre added eight points each, as the home team was held under 50 points for the third time this year.

Cha Sweeney led EMU with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds, while Janay Morton had 14 points and a contest-tying best three steals.

The Eagles took control of the contest with a 22-8 run over the course of the first two quarters en route to a 37-22 halftime advantage. UT was only able to reduce its deficit to 12 points in the waning seconds of regulation.

Eastern Michigan finished the game shooting 44.0 percent (22-of-50) from the floor, including 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from three-point range. The Eagles also posted a 34-29 advantage on the boards and had four players tally at least five caroms.

The Rockets will look to bounce back on Saturday, Feb. 27 when travel to MAC West Division foe Northern Illinois (11-15, 4-11 MAC). The opening tip versus the Huskies is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (CT) in the Convocation Center and can be seen on ESPN3.

The Midnight Blue & Gold claimed a 66-59 victory over the Huskies in Savage Arena on Jan. 16.

Toledo holds a 30-18 (.625) lead in the all-time series, but has split the season series each of the last two years against Northern Illinois.

NIU has a 13-9 (.591) edge in contests played in DeKalb, emerging victorious in four of the last six match-ups in the Convocation Center.

A season ago, UT dropped a 68-64 decision against NIU on the road (March 4).
