TOLEDO, OH – Toledo suffered a 77-57 setback to Ohio in Saturday's Mid-American Conference match-up before 4,880 fans in Savage Arena. With the loss, the Rockets fall to 13-10 overall, 8-4 in the league.
Kiyanna Black tied a league record with 10 three-point field goals and finished with 38 points to propel the Bobcats (19-4, 11-1 MAC) to their first win in Savage Arena since Jan. 7, 1987. Ohio had lost 27-straight games against the Midnight Blue & Gold on the road. Black connected on an efficient 10-of-20 shots from three-point range to score at least 30 points for a second time this year.
As a team, the reigning MAC regular-season and tournament champions connected on 42.2 percent (27-of-64) from the field, including 36.6 percent (15-of-41) from beyond the arc, and 88.9 percent (8-of-9) from the charity stripe to stop UT's four-game winning streak.
The Bobcats' 41 three-point field goal attempts is an arena record, while the 15 treys is one off the mark. Black also attempted a Savage Arena record 20 shots from three-point land.
Sophomore
Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott paced Toledo with 13 points, followed closely by freshman
Kaayla McIntyre with 12.
The Bobcats wasted little time in taking control of today's contest, burying six triples in the first quarter. Black accounted for four of the three-point field goals in the opening 10 minutes to give the visitors a 20-13 advantage. It proved to be a lead they would not relinquish.
UT's Bravo-Harriott hit a pair of baskets in the opening moments of the second period to make the score 23-19 at the 7:14 mark. The London, England native converted a layup and a jumper with the shot clock about to expire to trim the margin to four points.
Unfortunately for the Rockets, the momentum did not last long, as Ohio went on a pivotal 13-0 run to create a double-digit cushion, 36-19, with 2:58 left before intermission. Lexie Baldwin and Quiera Lampkins sparked the burst with four points each to force Toledo into calling a pair of timeouts.
Baldwin finished with 16 points and a game-high 12 boards, while Lampkins chipped in with 14.
McIntyre stopped the run with a layup, but the Rockets could not pull any closer than 15 points for the remainder of the half and found themselves trailing 42-24 at the intermission.
Following the break, UT benefited from a pair of layups by McIntyre to close within 15 points, 48-33, with 5:41 remaining in the third.
Just like in the second period, though, the Bobcats countered with an 8-2 burst to once again make it a 20-point contest, 56-36, at the 4:13 mark. Black was the main culprit for the visitors, draining her eighth and ninth triples to end any possibility of a comeback.
A positive from today's MAC cross-division match-up was the play of UT's bench, which produced a season-high 30 points. Four different players tallied at least five points, highlighted by McIntyre's 12.

The Rockets will return to the hardwood on Wednesday, Feb. 17 when they travel to arch-rival Bowling Green (8-12, 4-7 MAC). The opening tip versus the Falcons is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Stroh Center and can be seen on ESPN3.
UT and BGSU will square off for the second time this year and 75th time overall. The Rockets claimed a 75-61 victory over its cross-division rival in Savage Arena on Jan. 30.
The Falcons holds a 42-32 advantage in the all-time series, but the Rockets have won five of the last six meetings against their arch-rival.
Bowling Green also maintains a 20-11 (.645) edge in contests played in Wood County, but UT has  won the last three meetings on the road. A season ago, Toledo claimed a 64-48 road triumph in the Stroh Center (Jan. 31).
