Dominant Performance at Both Ends Boosts Rockets to 93-49 Win Over Miami

TOLEDO, OH – Toledo led from wire-to-wire and extended its winning streak to a season-high four games on Saturday night in a 93-49 triumph over visiting Miami in Savage Arena. The Rockets' 44-point win was their second-largest ever in a Mid-American Conference game, trailing only a 103-51 win over Buffalo on Feb. 11, 1999.

The victory was the Rockets' seventh straight in their series with the RedHawks (9-16, 3-9 MAC) and keeps the Rockets (16-9, 7-5 MAC) tied for first place with Ball State (16-9, 7-5 MAC) in the Mid-American Conference's West Division.
Junior guard Jonathan Williams was one of three Rockets to score a team-high 15 points to become the 44th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Joining Williams with team scoring honors were junior forward Zach Garber and freshman forward Nate Navigato.

Toledo had six players score in double figures with freshman guard Jaelan Sanford, senior center Nathan Boothe and sophomore guard Stuckey Mosley tallying 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Rockets dominated the glass by a 44-22 margin, marking the third time in the last four games UT has enjoyed a double-digit advantage on the boards. Toledo's plus-22 cushion in the rebounding department matched its season best vs. Western Michigan on Feb. 2.

Mosley topped the Midnight Blue and Gold with six assists and committed just one turnover in 24 minutes. Boothe also dished out four assists to go along with a team-high seven boards in 23 minutes.

The Rockets shot 56.4 percent as a team, including a scorching 69.2 mark in the second half. UT also connected on 61.1 percent (11-of-28) of three-point field goals, the second time in its last three outings it has shot 60 percent or better from behind the arc.

Toledo's defense also enjoyed a strong performance as it limited the RedHawks to the lowest scoring output by a Rocket opponent this season. UT also limited Miami to a 30.4 shooting mark, the lowest by an opponent this season.

The Rockets also posted their second-best performance of the season at the charity stripe, knocking down 20-of-22 attempts for a 90.9 percentage.

Toledo scored the game's first eight points and never looked back. Sanford did most of the damage early on, scoring seven points to put the Rockets up 15-4 less than seven minutes into the contest.

UT expanded its lead to 22-4 on a Garber jumper before the RedHawks went on a 9-3 spurt to cut the Rockets' lead to 25-13 at the 7:12 mark. Junior guard Jordan Lauf ended Miami's short burst with a three-point field goal and a layup. Sanford then buried a three-pointer to give the Rockets their first 20-point lead, 33-13, with 4:28 remaining in the opening stanza.

Neither team scored in the first half's final three minutes as UT took a 35-18 advantage into the locker room.

Toledo left no doubt of the game's outcome by scoring the first nine points of the second half.  The Rockets' largest lead of the second half was 88-32, following a Williams' three-pointer with 6:38 to play.

UT will play its next two games on the road before finishing the regular season with three of its final four contests at home. The Rockets will visit Central Michigan (13-12, 6-6 MAC) on Tuesday, Feb. 16 before making the short trek to Eastern Michigan (13-12, 5-7 MAC) on Saturday, Feb. 20.
