CLEVELAND, OH -  Toledo (2-0) will look to continue its red-hot start to the season  when it travels to Horizon League member Cleveland State (1-2) on Saturday, Nov. 19. Tipoff is slated for Noon in the Wolstein Center.
The Rockets have begun the year with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2008-09, the first year under head coach
Tricia Cullop. The Midnight Blue & Gold have started a season 2-0 on 12 occasions in school history.Â
With a victory against the Vikings tomorrow, UT will start 3-0 for the first time since 1996-97. Twenty years ago, the Rockets finished 27-4 overall, 16-2 in the league, and won the MAC championship. Â
Toledo is coming off an impressive 65-50 victory against Rhode Island in Tuesday's home opener before 3,189 fans in Savage Arena.
Sophomore
Mikaela Boyd led three Rockets in double figures with a career-high 15 points, to go along with six rebounds, a team-tying best five assists and three steals.Â
Joining Boyd in double digits were freshman
Mariella Santucci with 13 points and sophomore
Olivia Cunningham with 10 points off the bench.Â
Beside Santucci's 13 points, the first-year Rocket filled up the stat sheet by totaling a squad-tying best five dimes and a contest-high six thefts in a team-best 36 minutes.Â
Toledo, which trailed for a mere 15 seconds in the contest, shot 36.7 percent (22-of-60) from the field, including 21.4 percent (3-of-14) from three-point range, and 58.1 percent (18-of-31) from the charity stripe.Â
The biggest difference in the match-up was UT's ability to knock down a little more than half of its free throws, while URI shot only 20.0 percent (4-of-20) from the stripe.
The visiting Rams were stymied all evening by the Rockets' defense  and connected on only 30.3 percent (20-of-66) from the floor, including 21.4 percent (6-of-28) from beyond the arc.
Through the first two games this season, UT is fueled offensively by the quartet of Boyd, Santucci, Cunningham and junior
Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott, who are averaging 12.5, 10.0, 9.5 and 9.0 ppg, respectively.
CSU has split its first two contests this year and most recently dropped a 96-78 decision at nationally ranked Ohio State on Wednesday. Ashanti Abshaw led four Vikings in double figures with 25 points, while Alexis Eckles added 14 points and a game-high six helpers in a losing effort.
Toledo and Cleveland State will meet for the third straight year and 25th time in the overall series. The Rockets lead the all-time series, 15-9, most recently claiming a 66-53 home victory on Dec. 12, 2015.Â
UT has had its struggles against CSU on the road, though, dropping four of the last five match-ups. Two years ago, the Midnight Blue & Gold dropped an 81-71 road decision on Nov. 14, 2014. The Rockets' most recent victory in Cleveland occurred on Dec. 11, 2004 when they escaped town with an 81-67 Â triumph.
