Rockets Finish Eighth, EMU Sweeps MAC Championships

KENT, Ohio - The Toledo men's cross country team ran to a eighth place finish in the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday at the Kent State Golf Course. Eastern Michigan swept the Top 5 positions to claim its seventh straight conference championship.
Freshman Dismas Koech paced the Rockets with a 26th place effort in 26:16.5. Titus Koech was the second Toledo runner to finish as the sophomore marked a 26:22.2, good for 32nd place.
Sophomore Alberto Chelimo (47th place) and junior Louis Guardiola (48th place) finished the 8,000 meter course in 27:03.2 and 25:05.7, respectively.
Senior Thomas Gibbons rounded out the scoring with a 53nd place finish (27:15.3) in his final MAC Championship race.
Eastern Michigan's top five runners finished within 1.2 second of one another and 19 seconds ahead of the closest competition. Nicholas Raymond won the race in 25:10.0.
The Midnight Blue and Gold next competes in Madison, Wis. for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 11 at noon.
