MUNCIE, Ind. - Senior
Kiersten Johnson scored a goal in her thrid-straight game but it was not enough as Toledo fell to Ball State, 2-1, on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Johnson led the Rockets (6-9-1, 1-6-1 MAC) with four shots while freshman
Jordyn Greer took a pair of shots off the bench. As a team, the Rockets fired 10 attempts compared to 14 attempts for the opposition.Â
Ball State (12-2-2, 7-0-1 MAC) closed the opening half with the first goal of the game, as just 12 seconds remained on the first half clock. Emily Scott was responsible for the first of Ball State's two tallies.Â
The Cardinals added to their lead in the 70th minute on a Gabby Veldman goal to make the score 2-0.
Johnson cut the lead in half on her eighth marker of the season with 6:34 left in regulation. The Toledo comeback attempt was not enough as the clock ran out with the score remaining 2-1.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Katie Wilson made five second-half saves en route to a seven save performance. Ball State keeper Alyssa Keintschel made five saves.
