Nathan Boothe tallied 25 points and nine rebounds and sophomore guard
Stuckey Mosley tied his career best with 19 points to lead Toledo to a convincing 78-64 win over Akron Friday night in Savage Arena.
The victory, which was the Rockets' four straight over the Zips, improved UT's record to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in Mid-American Conference play.
Junior guard
Jonathan Williams also scored in double figures, finishing with 15 points and tying Mosley for the team lead with four assists.
Toledo shot 53.8 percent from the field, including a sizzling 59.1 effort in the second half. The Rockets limited the Zips to a 41.4 shooting mark, including a 7-of-29 showing (24.1 percent) from behind the three-point arc.
The Rockets led by as many as 21 points, 70-49, with 4:32 remaining before Akron made a small rally to climb to within 13 points.
Junior center Isaiah Johnson and sophomore guard Antino Jackson topped Akron with 16 and 15 points, respectively.
Toledo broke free from the visitors with a quick spurt to end the first half. Boothe capped off a seven-point burst for a 32-23 advantage 2:42 before halftime. Freshman guard
Jaelan Sanford's dunk 11 seconds before intermission gave UT a 39-28 cushion at the break.
The Zips cut Toledo's lead to six points on three straight possessions midway through the second half. Freshman guard Josh Williams' three-pointer with 10:42 to play sliced Akron's deficit to 54-48, but the Midnight Blue and Gold responded with a 16-1 run to seal the victory.
Toledo returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 19 with a 7:00 p.m. matchup against arch-rival Bowling Green (11-5, 2-1 MAC). The Falcons will travel tomorrow to Ypsilanti to battle  Eastern Michigan before hosting the Rockets.
