Rockets Power Past Bobcats in 11-2 Win in Game One

Junior John Martillotta was 3-for-3 with three RBI in Toledo's 11-2 win over Ohio on Friday evening.
ATHENTS, OH - The Rockets won their third-straight Mid-American Conference contest with an impressive 11-2 victory over Ohio in Athens, OH on Friday evening. Toledo improves to 19-27 overall and 11-9 in league play.Â
Senior righty Cameron Palmer picked up his fifth win of the season with another dominating performance on the mound. The Canton, OH native tossed 8.0 innings, giving up just two runs runs on five hits. Palmer allowed three walks while striking out three OU batters.Â
Toledo's John Martillotta was the Bobcats worst nightmare as the junior was 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI. Senior third baseman Nate Langhals also tallied two RBI while going 1-for-BLANK at the plate.Â
The Bobcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first inning but it was all Rockets after that as the UT offense came alive in the top of the third frame. Martillotta kicked things off with a two-run single to center field to score freshman A.J. Montoya and senior Lucas Sokol. Bollinger, Tipton, and Britt followed with three-straight RBI singles to give Toledo a 5-1 lead.Â
The Midnight Blue & Gold would tack on three runs in the top of the fifth and and three more in the top of the eighth to pull further away from the Bobcats down the stretch.Â
The Rockets will look to capture its fourth straight MAC series on Saturday with first pitch slated for 7:00 p.m. in Athens.Â
