Toledo managed just one hit in the game on Sunday.
TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo softball team saw its home slate come to an end on Sunday afternoon, as it fell to Kent State 5-0 on senior day at Scott Park.
With the loss, the Rockets drop to 20-30 on the season and 5-13 in Mid-American Conference play.
Toledo managed just one hit in the game, as sophomore IF Chandler Rice went 1-for-3 in the game with a bloop single to right field.
KSU tallied three runs in the top of the third inning, before adding two more in the top of seventh.
The Midnight Blue & Gold threatened in the bottom of the fifth, as walks put senior IF Allissa Turkovich and freshman C Ashley Maynard on base. Following a fielder's choice for the inning's second out, senior OF Alyssa Smith stepped to the plate with runners on second and third.
Smith laid down a bunt in front of home plate, and the Golden Flashes' catcher made a quick play to first and Smith was called out on a bang-bang play.
Turkovich walked twice in the game, and junior OF Jessica Lemieux forced two walks as well, giving the Rockets key baserunners.
Toledo, however, left five runners on base in the shutout.
Sophomore P Emily Anderson was tagged with the loss, allowing three runs (zero earned) on five hits with three strikeouts.
The Rockets will play their final non-conference games on Wednesday with a doubleheader at IPFW, before taking on Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan in their final MAC regular season games next weekend.
