Selfridge & Toledo Place Fifth at NYX Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, IN – Senior Chris Selfridge tied for fifth place and Toledo placed fifth in the team standings in Sunday's final round of the NYX Hoosier Invitational. The two-day tourney was played at the par-71, 6,813-yard IU Golf Course.
Selfridge carded UT's top round of the day with a three-over par 74 to finish with a one-under par 212 (72-66-74) over 54 holes. The three-time all-league honoree has now posted a Top Five finish on 10 occasions in his collegiate career.
Junior Otto Black also finished alone in 16th place at three-over par 216 (72-68-76), followed by senior Pat Cermak (76-72-77) and freshman Stephen Watts (74-73-78) who tied for 50th place at 12-over par 225, while freshman Colin Joseph tied for 66th place at 15-over par 228 (71-80-77).
The Rockets shot a team score of 20-over par 872 (289-279-304), 19 strokes behind champion Wisconsin at one-over par 853 (286-279-288). In addition, Toledo finished first of three Mid-American Conference members competing in the two-day event, defeating sixth-place Miami (288-286-299=873, +21) and 11th-place Eastern Michigan (297-285-297=879, +27).
Xavier's Jose Montano secured medalist honors at six-under par 207 (71-67-69), winning by three strokes over Wisconsin's Jack Watson (68-70-72) and Cincinnati's John Michael O'Toole (70-68-72) at three-under par 210.
The Rockets will return to the link on Saturday-Sunday, April 18-19 when they participate in the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, IN.
