
Toledo Rests in Second Place Following First Day of NYX Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, IN – Senior Chris Selfridge is tied for the individual lead following the opening 36 holes of the NYX Hoosier Invitational on Saturday at the par-71, 6,813-yard IU Golf Course. As a team, Toledo rests alone in second place after finishing the first round in a fourth-place tie.
Selfridge currently sits in a four-way tie with Wisconsin's Jack Watson (68-70), Cincinnati's John Michael O'Toole (70-68) and Xavier's Jose Montano (71-67) for the top spot after firing a four-under par 138 (72-66), including a career-low five-under par 66 in the second round. He totaled nine birdies in today's opening 36 holes, including eight in the record-setting second round. The Castledawson, Northern Ireland native has been simply brilliant over his last two-plus events, recording scores of 67 or better in six of the last eight rounds.
Junior Otto Black produced the Rockets' second-best round of the day and is tied for sixth place with a two-under par 140 (72-68). UT is one of only two schools to have two players in the top nine in the individual standings. The Pinckney, MI native has also been playing great golf as of late, recording scores of 71 or lower in four of his last nine rounds.
Freshman Stephen Watts is also tied for 33rd place at five-over par 147 (74-73) with senior Pat Cermak one stroke behind and tied for 39th place at 148 (76-72). Rounding out the UT lineup is freshman Colin Joseph tied for 65th place at nine-over par 151 (71-80).
Big Ten Conference member Wisconsin currently leads the field with a team score of three-under par 565 (286-279), while Toledo is just three shots behind the leader.
The third and final round of the two-day tourney will be held on Sunday with a shotgun start beginning at 9:00 a.m.
