TOLEDO, OH – Four Rockets scored in double figures on Wednesday evening as Toledo posted a convincing 76-65 victory over Cleveland State in Savage Arena. The Rockets held a 36-23 halftime lead and extended it to as many as 20 points.
UT's two leading scorers, senior center
Nathan Boothe and junior guard
Jonathan Williams, paced the Rockets' offense with 17 points apiece. Joining the duo in double figures was sophomore guard
Stuckey Mosley (12 pts.) and freshman forward
Nate Navigato (11 pts.).
Boothe also paced the Rockets with eight boards and five assists, helping UT register a 36-26 advantage on the boards and collected 19 assists on 22 field goals.
Toledo shot 47.8 percent as a team, including a 51.9 mark in the first half before cooling off in the second stanza (42.1 percent). The Rockets also notched a season highs in both free throws made (26) and attempted (36).
Freshman guard Rob Edwards topped the Vikings with 15 points, while senior forward Vinny Zollo tallied 14 points and a team-best five rebounds.
Navigato tallied UT's first six points with a trey and tradtional three-point play. A Boothe jumper provided the Rockets their first double-digit cushion, 27-17
Toledo's lead never dipped below 10 points in the final 20 minutes. UT eliminated any hopes of a Viking comeback by knocking down their last 10 free-throw attempts.
The Rockets return to action on Sunday, Dec. 6 with a trip to Green Bay, WI to battle the Phoenix (4-3). UT will remain on the road at Detroit on Wednesday, Dec. 9 before hosting Oakland on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m.
