While it was not the result first-year head coach
TJ Buchholz was looking for but he knows what his team accomplished this season.
"We're very proud of the girls," Buchholz said. "If you look at the preseason standings, people had us last. We proved people wrong and made it into the conference tournament, and that is a great feat."
While Toledo exceeded the expectations of the coaches poll, Buchholz isn't done.
"We have a lot of work to do," Buchholz said. "We have high standards, and we're going to get right back after it and start working on next year."
While the Rockets managed to fire seven shots on the day, they were unable to beat keeper Stephanie Heber, who notched her ninth shutout of the year for WMU.Â
The loss marks the end of four Midnight Blue & Gold careers in senior
Sam Tiongson, senior
Megan Connor, senior
Geri Siudzinski and senior Kika Hernandez.Â
"These seniors have been a massive part of the Toledo program," Buchholz said. "We really appreciate all of the work they have done, and while their time has come to an end, they will not be forgotten by anyone here."
