LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL – Toledo won a third-straight tournament for the first time in school history on Tuesday by carding a three-over par 291 at the 38
th annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational. The Rockets (296-292-291=879) finished five shots in front of second-place Memphis (292-297-295=884) on the par-72, 6,288-yard Cypress Course at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
"This is probably the biggest tournament win in school history," Toledo Head CoachÂ
Nicole Hollingsworth said. "The Pat Bradley Invitational has such a tremendous history and we were able to defeat several teams who are in contention for NCAA Regional berths."
UT placed three individuals in the Top 10 led by senior
Sathika Ruenreong's one-over par 217 (74-70-73) good for a third-place showing. Joining Ruenreong were classmates
Manisa Isavas in sixth place at four-over par 220 (72-73-75) and
Morgan Salm tied for eighth place at six-over par 222 (76-73-73).
Freshman
Pimchanok Kawil notched the Rockets' best round of the day with a two-under par 70 to finish tied for 13
th place at eight-over par 224 (78-76-70). Rounding out the Rocket lineup was freshman
Caitriona Griffin tied for 41
st place at 15-over par (74-78-79=231/T-41
st).
"Our seniors really stepped up for us today like they have all season," Hollingsworth said. "It was also great to see Pim shoot her best round of the fall. The depth we're showing in our lineup is exciting and that bodes well for our spring."
Memphis' Leighann Cabush captured medalist honors with a 54-hole total of one-under par 215 (69-73-73), one stroke ahead of Daytona State's Ji Sun Kang (70-74-72=216) and two clear of Ruenreong.
Toledo ranked second in the tourney with 173 pars and 35 birdies and led the field with a 26-over par result on par-four holes.
The Rockets will now turn their sights to winter conditioning with their first tournament of the spring coming at the FGCU Eagle Invitational on Feb. 12-14, 2016 in Estero, FL.
