Muncie, IN - The Toledo men's tennis team fell just short in its road match against Mid-American Conference foe and defending conference champion Ball State on Thursday, April 12. BSU topped UT, 4-3, at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
The Rockets (15-9, 1-2 MAC) earned their points with wins in singles Nos. 1, 3 and 5. They also won No. 3 doubles, as Grant Adams and Bryant Dudzik defeated Ball State's Elliott/Sansone duo, 8-5, but BSU won the other two to take the doubles point.
In singles play, Tomas Stillman bested Albertin in the No. 1 spot by a score of 7-6(4), 6-1. Nick Wong won over Smith, 6-1, 7-5 in No. 3 singles. Adams topped Brym in fifth-singles, 4-6, 7-5 (10-8).
'We showed good progress from our first two MAC matches," said head coach Al Wermer. "We were more relaxed and responded from some shaky doubles quite well. We're on the correct path and the guys' heads are in the right place. We're optimistic for the upcoming couple weeks."
The Rockets will play at Northern Illinois at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 14.
