
Balanced Attack Propels Rockets to 3-0 Sweep of Niagara

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo continued its strong start to the season with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-18) sweep of Niagara on Saturday morning in the first match of the day at the Blue-Gold Invitational.
Sophomores Jordan Kielty and Becca Reidy topped a balanced Rockets' offense with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. UT notched a .346 team attack percentage with Kielty (.500 ATK%), junior MB Bethany Irwin (9 kills, .421 ATK%), Reidy (.381 ATK%) and junior MB Bailey Blank (5 kills, .625 ATK%) each hitting above .300.
The Rockets' offense performed consistently throughout the contest, hitting .406 in Set 1, .295 in Set 2 and .357 in Set 3. Senior S Kassie Kadera spread the ball out to the UT hitters and finished with a game-high 39 assists.
Junior libero McCall Paynter (13 digs), Kadera (13 digs) and Kielty (11 digs) each posted double-digit dig totals to help the Rockets hold a resounding 53-37 advantage in that department.
Senior OH Hannah Hedrick led Niagara offensively with 15 kills and a .323 attack percentage.
Toledo will return to action at 7:00 p.m. this evening against Oakland in the Blue-Gold Invitational's championship match. The Golden Grizzlies recorded a 3-1 (25-9, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19) triumph over Wright State in their first match of the day.
