TOLEDO, OH - The University of Toledo men's golf program will participate in five tournaments this fall highlighted by an appearance in New Mexico's Tucker Intercollegiate, head coach Jamie Mauntler announced today.
The Rockets open their season at the Marshall Invitational on Sept. 13-14 in Huntington, WV followed by an appearance at the Maryland Intercollegiate on Sept. 17-18 in Cambridge, MD. UT will then take two weeks off before heading to Albuquerque, NM for the Tucker Intercollegiate on Oct. 1-2. Toledo will then conclude its fall by making return trips to Akron's Firestone Invitational on Oct. 11-12 and UNC Greensboro's Bridgestone Intercollegiate on Oct. 23-24.
"I really like our fall schedule and how it lines up for us," Mauntler said. "We're going to have the chance to play some quality courses and face some top-flight competition. We have a veteran group returning, and I think we have a chance to do some special things next year."
Toledo will be returning its top four golfers from the 2009-10 campaign, led by senior Jean-Hubert Trahan's 74.8 stroke average. Giving the Rockets significant depth in their lineup are sophomore Josh Agin (75.2), senior Ben Boyer (75.3) and junior Mike Cermak (75.3). UT will also be adding freshman Oliver Holtsberry, a three-time all-state selection from Lima Central Catholic High School.
