Thomas Crow lettered in basketball and baseball three times each and participated in track. He played forward in 1936 for the Rockets, while stepping in at guard and center in 1937 and 1938. He also participated on the basketball team, averaging eight points a game. Better known as a defensive specialist, Crow would be assigned to the top scorer on the opposing team and would respond by consistently shutting him down. He was made team captain in 1938 and helped lead his team to three winning seasons and a ranking of seventh in the nation. Crow compiled a .360 batting average for the baseball team. He also participated as a pole vaulter during his junior and senior years. After graduation from The University of Toledo in 1938, Crow returned to his high school alma mater, Whitmer, where he taught history and coached basketball for three years. While still active as an athlete, Crow joined former Toledo great Chuckovits on a professional basketball teams known as the Toledo White Huts. This team finished fourth in the 1941 World's Professional Basketball Championship tournament. As an American hero Lt. Crow was a fighter pilot attached to the U.S.S Yorkstown School to be presented annually to the senior student- athlete who displayed leadership qualities. Crow was a true leader as an athlete and in the classroom where he was an honors student throughout his career.
