
Rockets in 18th Place Following First Day of Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN ? Toledo sits in 18th place with a team score of 617 following the first day of the Boilermaker Invitational on the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The course hosted the 2008 Men's NCAA Championships and is a par-72, 7,162-yard venue which will be extended to 7,465 yards for tomorrow's final round.
Penn State is currently leading the tournament at seven-under par 569 (288-281) and is one of three schools shooting under par. Illinois is two strokes back in second place at 571 (287-284), while Iowa is in third place at 573 (293-280). Indiana came into the tournament ranked as the No. 9 team in the nation but stands in 11th place at the end of two rounds. The Nittany Lions' Kevin Foley leads the tournament with a score of nine-under par 135, including a tournament-best round of 66 (-6) in the second round.
Freshman Michael Cermak is leading the Rockets and is tied for 67th place with a nine-over par 153 (75-78) with junior Jerel Whiting (77-77) and sophomore Ben Boyer (79-75) one stroke behind and tied for 72nd place at 10-over par 154. Sophomore Jean-Hubert Trahan is tied for 77th place at 12-over par 156 (79-77), while sophomore Jonathan Kim is in 93rd place at 19-over par 163 (83-80).
Tomorrow's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
