
Toledo Places 18th at Boilermaker Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN ? Toledo finished in 18th place at this weekend's Boilermaker Invitational with a team score of 922. The tournament concluded on Sunday and was played on the Kampen Course at Purdue University's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, the site of the 2008 Men's NCAA Championships.
Illinois captured the tournament title with an impressive nine-under par 855 and edged first-day leader Penn State by a single stroke. The Fighting Illini and Nittany Lions led five Big Ten schools at the top of the leaderboard with Iowa in third at 864, Wisconsin in fourth at 866 and Indiana in fifth at 874.
Penn State's Kevin Foley and Wisconsin's Dan Woltman shared medalist honors at nine-under par 207 with Illinois' Chris DeForest in third place at seven-under par 209.
Freshman Michael Cermak carded the Rockets' best round today with a two-over par 74 and tied for 59th place with an 11-over par 227 (75-78-74). Sophomore Ben Boyer tied for 67th place at 229 (79-75-75) with junior Jerel Whiting tied for 72nd place at 16-over par 232 (77-77-78). Rounding out Toledo's lineup were sophomore Jean-Hubert Trahan tied for 83rd place at 18-over par 234 (79-77-78) and sophomore Jonathan Kim in 93rd place at 29-over par 245 (83-80-82).
Toledo will now be idle until traveling to Indianapolis, IN on Thursday-Saturday, April 30-May 2 for the 2009 Mid-American Conference Championship.
