Rocket Softball Drops Two to Ball State

Final Stats
Toledo, OH - Toledo softball (6-22, 2-6 MAC) lost two games today to Ball State (14-23, 6-4 MAC). The first game the Rockets lost 6-4 and the second game 17-10.
In game one, the Cardinals started the first inning with two runs and held the Rockets scoreless. The both teams continued to play great defense leaving the next two innings run less.
In the bottom of the fourth inning Toledo got their bats moving finishing the inning with four runs and five hits. Freshman Lacey LeVier hit a double which allowed Megan McCauley to score, Mica Sanchez singled then Valerie Moxim doubled and LeVier and Sanchez scored. Junior Leslie Stong stepped up to the play hitting a single and allowing Kate Ricchio to score another run for the Rockets.
Ball State then came back and scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings. BSU held the Rockets scoreless the rest of the game.
Toledo finished the first game with four runs, 11 hits and two errors. LeVier had one double and Moxim had two.
In game two, UT came out swinging. In the first inning they scored two runs off the bat of Alison Hess who hit her third homerun of the year. In the third inning, the Rockets scored again. Having two outs and runner on all bases, McCauley singled sending a runner home.
In the fifth and sixth innings Toledo scored four more times. In inning six, the Rockets hit three doubles in a row.
Just when it looked like the Rockets had the game locked away, Ball State scored 16 runs in the top of the seventh inning. Toledo didn't go down without a fight, the Rockets scored three more runs. Moxim hit a two run homer and Brie Ford hit a double allowing Denise VanVossen to score.
Toledo will take on Miami tomorrow and Sunday. Tomorrow's game will begin at 2 PM at Scott Park field.
