Toledo, OH - Toledo women's tennis extended their home win streak to four with a 7-0 win over Dayton this afternoon (Feb. 9). The Rockets are now 6-1 on the season and the Flyers are 0-6.
Changing the doubles line-up due to an injury put the team of Myriam Cueva and Nadia Zoubareva in the No.1 spot defeating their opponents in a close match 8-6. Martina Wodzinski teamed up with Jenny Belsky at No. 2 winning 8-2. Leaving Sarah VanderMolen and Sarah Horning at No. 3 winning 8-5.
"I thought Martina and Jenny played very well at No. 2 doubles," said Head Coach Tracy Mauntler. "They came out with a lot of energy."
The Rockets continue to be rock-solid from top to bottom in singles. Remaining undefeated in singles are freshman Martina Wodzinski and Nadia Zoubareva. Having shut outs for Toledo were Myriam Cueva and freshman Jessica Azoulay at first and fifth spots. Also playing tough were Jenny Belsky, winning 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 and Sarah Horning who held her opponent to one point in two sets.
"Our singles were very solid today," said Mauntler. "The women continue to play hard each time they step on the court."
UT will look to keep the home win streak alive next Sunday, Feb. 18 when they take on the Ferris State Bulldogs at Laurel Hill. The match time is set for 10 A.M.
