Head Coach Stan Joplin
"I'm disappointed that we came up a little bit short. Old Dominion is a very good team and even though they were down 10 points on the road they never panicked and made some plays down the stretch. You can't afford to give up a 10-point lead against a quality team like Old Dominion."
(on Old Dominion)
"We didn't shoot the ball as well as we would have liked but they had a lot to do with that. They get after people pretty good. It was a good test for us. We knew they could shoot the ball from outside and Vasylius was a tough matchup for us. We didn't do a very good job of attacking their zone and we came up a little bit short. Our effort would have been good enough against a lot of teams but not against a team like Old Dominion."
(on the homecourt win streak ending)
"We knew it was going to come to an end sometime, but you're always disappointed with a loss. Old Dominion is a very good team, but I would rather lose this game than one of our games next week. Our goals still haven't changed at all. Our main goal is to win the West Division and our second goal is to have the best record in the MAC. That's what we're still shooting for. It would have been nice to get this win because Old Dominion has a good RPI but we came up a little bit short."
Senior guard Justin Ingram
(on the homecourt win streak ending)
"It's always disappointing when you lose, but the crowd was great and we had a lot of chances to win the game. We just came up a little bit short. Now we have to get ready to bounce back against Northern Illinois and when we come back home try to start another streak."
(on being down late in the game)
"We missed some open layups and turned the ball over too much during the stretch when Old Dominion took the lead. We have to keep our composure and just make plays. Usually we do that at the end of the game but tonight we didn't."
(on the last shot)
"We had been running a play that I usually hit a lot of threes with and they were keying on me. So we were going to try to get it to Keonta coming off a screen and usually he's wide open for the shot. But they switched everything they were doing and played pretty good defense and we couldn't get a shot off."
(on what can be learned from the end of the game)
"I don't think we panicked but we just didn't make very smart decisions. It would have been nice to learn from that and still win the game. But we lost and now we have to go back to practice and work on those last-minute decisions so they don't happen when we get to Cleveland."
(on losing a 10-point lead)
"Anytime you're up by 10 points at home with a veteran team like we are you're supposed to put the game away. When we lost the lead we kept our heads and knew we were going to have a shot at the end of the game to win it. But tonight we came up on the short end of the stick."
(on how this loss could help the team)
"I think it helps a lot because Old Dominion is a good team for the Colonial. With 21 wins they have a good shot at making the NCAA Tournament. Playing a quality team like this will help us in the MAC Tournament so we won't be rattled at the end of the game."
