Detroit, Mich. native possesses 3.773 GPA and averaged 20.5 ppg in two games last week
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo freshman Leroy Blyden Jr. has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

Blyden possesses a 3.773 grade-point average and was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team last weekend after averaging a team-high 18.7 ppg to go along with 5.3 rpg, 5.0 apg and 2.7 spg to help the Rockets advance to the MAC Championship Game. He also shot 52.5% from the field and 50.0% (9-of-18) from three-point range.

Blyden topped the Rockets with 23 points and grabbed six rebounds in Toledo's 77-76 quarterfinal win over Bowling Green and tallied 21 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals vs. Akron in the championship game.

The MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week award is given to one male and one female student-athlete from its conference institutions who has at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and has a worthy performance during that week's competition.Â
