Buffalo, NY - The Toledo softball team broke a two-game scoreless streak and picked up its first Mid-American Conference win of the season with a 2-0 triumph over Buffalo Saturday afternoon at Nan Harvey Field.
After playing to a scoreless tie after six innings and mustering just two hits, freshman Alison Hess hit a two-run homerun that proved to be all the offense needed for the Rockets' first MAC victory of the year. The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for Toledo (8-19, 1-1), while the Bulls fell to 8-26, 1-1 in the MAC.
Sierra Pereira pitched her most impressive game of the season, giving up no runs on five hits and striking out five. The freshman improved her record to 4-9.
The Rockets will battle the Bulls again tomorrow at 1 P.M.
