Toledo Finishes Fourth at MAC Championships

Westerville, OH - Toledo moved up one spot in today's final round to finish in fourth place at the 2005 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championship at the par-72, 6,875-yard Medallion Club in Westerville, Ohio. The Rockets shot a four-under par 284 to finish with a one-under 1151 (294-285-288-284) for the tournament, just one stroke behind third-place Ball State (291-287-286-286=1150).
Senior Justin Bertsch and freshman Ciaran McAleavey paced UT as both registered Top 10 finishes with Bertsch also earning first-team All-MAC honors for a second straight year. Bertsch tied for fifth place after shooting an even-par 72 to finish with a four-under par 284 (72-69-71-72) for the tournament. Freshman Ciaran McAleavey tied for seventh place after carding a three-under par 69 to finish with a three-under par 285 (76-68-72-69). Sophomore Tyler Riley (75-74-71-72) and freshman Renaud Langevin (73-74-74-71) tied for 26th place at four-over par 292. Freshman Justin Hull tied for 34th place with a nine-over par 297 (74-74-76-73).
Kent State captured the tournament title with a 33-under par 1119 to win by 19 strokes over second-place Eastern Michigan (1138). KSU's Ryan Yip (63-72-71-71) and Tommy Wiegand (72-71-70-64) were co-champions for the tournament after both finished with 11-under par 277.
