Toledo Defeats Jacksonville, 13-2

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Toledo (2-6) rode the pitching of senior J.R. Duffey to claim a 13-2 victory over Jacksonville (11-6) on Wednesday night at Alexander Brest Field.
Duffey (1-2) scattered two runs (one earned) on five hits over seven innings. The Columbus, OH native fanned six batters without issuing a walk.
The Rockets also received good production at the plate as nine players earned a hit. Leading the way was freshman 2B Brian Sanders (3-for-4, three RBI, two runs scored), junior 1b Travis Pilewski (3-for-3, two runs scored), senior C Dan Ruth (2-for-3, two runs scored, RBI) and junior Dan Stong (2-for-4, two runs scored).
Other key contributors to the Rockets' attack included freshman CF Drew Hoisington (1-for-3, RBI, run scored) and freshman DH Pat Rohrbaugh (1-for-3, RBI, run scored).
Toledo scored two runs in the third, five in the fifth and six in the sixth to snap a four-game losing streak.
Jacksonville's Andrew Laughter was tagged with the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in 1.0 innings of relief.
The Rockets return to action on Thursday, March 10, when they battle Michigan State at noon.
JU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after an RBI double by James to left center field.
Toledo took a 2-1 advantage after an RBI single by Joel Visser and a run scoring wild pitch. The Rockets opened the game up with five runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth to lead 13-1.
The Dolphins added another run in the sixth when Lopez drove in Fowler from third with an RBI single up the middle.
JU will return to Atlantic Sun Conference action this weekend as the Dolphins face Mercer on Friday at 6 p.m.
