Toledo, OH - Toledo (14-26, 2-12 MAC) committed three errors in each game and was swept (3-2, 5-3) by Ohio (14-23, 8-6 MAC) in this afternoon's doubleheader at Scott Park. The two defeats ended the Rockets' season-high win streak at four games.
UT fell behind 1-0 early in the first game as Ohio jumped on the board with a run in the first inning. A pair of miscues led to another Bobcat run in the third inning with CF Erin Chapman's RBI single through the right side plating 2B Kiersten Scrima.
The Rockets cut the deficit to a single run when sophomore SS Gina Muratori doubled to lead off the fourth inning for UT's lone hit of the game and scored on senior 2B Vicki Nelson's sacrifice fly.
Ohio restored its two-run cushion in the fifth with another unearned run scoring on a suicide squeeze.
Toledo nearly rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh when junior PH Kristina Schultz drew a two-out walk and scored when sophomore 1B Kristin DuVall's fly ball was dropped. However, freshman CF Erica Singer struck out to end the game.
Ohio's Kerri Harley (6-8) earned the complete-game win with a one-hitter, while freshman Stephanie Moore (8-9) took the loss allowing three runs (one earned) and nine hits.
The Bobcats took a 2-0 lead in the second game as well with unearned runs in the first and third innings.
Toledo reduced its deficit in half in the third inning with back-to-back two-out doubles by Muratori and freshman RF Denise Van Vossen.
Ohio took a 4-1 advantage in the fourth on Scrima's two-out two-run double to left-center for the eventual game-winning runs.
Junior 3B Amy Morris then brought UT within 4-3 with a two-run blast to centerfield for her first homer as a Rocket.
The Bobcats added an insurance run in the seventh when Scrima led off with a triple and scored on Chapman's two-out single up the middle.
Ohio's Candy Warden (3-3) allowed three runs and five hits in 5.1 innings to receive the win with Natalie Armstrong earning her fifth save with 1.2 innings of hitless relief. Junior Kim Pettitt (5-15) suffered the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) and six hits.
The Rockets return to action tomorrow with a non-conference doubleheader vs. Kent State. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. at Scott Park.
