TOLEDO, OH - The University of Toledo women's tennis team (2-9) will travel South on I-75 on Saturday, Mar. 20 to battle Cincinnati in dual-match action. The contest is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Five Seasons Country Club.
The Rockets will tangle with the Bearcats looking to snap their six-game losing streak. Most recently, UT suffered a 8-1 loss to nationally-ranked Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL on Thursday, Mar. 11. The bright spot of the day was the performance turned in by senior Monica Ribero, who earned Toledo's point by defeating Andrea Kostricova 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 in No. 2 singles. Ribero, who has been battling injuries for most of the season, is 6-7 on the year, including 3-2 in the spring.
The Bearcats (6-8) are coming off a 6-1 setback at Miami last Saturday, Mar. 13 and a 5-2 loss to Illinois-Chicago on Sunday. Hannah Hinton was the only player on the squad to win both singles matches for the Bearcats. Hinton won at No. 3 against Miami and at No. 2 against UIC.
Saturday's match with UC will close out a nine-game road stint for the Rockets. The Midnight Blue and Gold will return home next weekend, hosting MAC foes Ball State on Friday, Mar. 26 and arch-rival Bowling Green on Saturday, Mar. 27. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at UT's Tennis Courts.
