TOLEDO, OH - The University of Toledo baseball team collected 20 hits on Tuesday afternoon en route to beating Hillsdale, 19-4, at Scott Park.
With the victory, the Rockets run their non-conference winning streak to nine straight and improve to 16-22, while the Chargers fall to 23-17.
Senior RF Jay Juras registered three hits with four RBI's to lead six Rockets who posted a multiple-hit day. Other Rockets tallying multiple-hits included juniors CF Sean Dobson (3-for-6, two runs scored, RBI), 3B Shawn Hurst (3-for-4, four runs scored, two RBI), DH Mitch Maier (2-for-2, two runs scored, two RBI) and sophomore SS Matt Ruth (2-for-5, run scored).
The Rockets scored a season-high 13 runs in the first inning, three in the fifth and three in the sixth to post their second most runs scored by a Toledo squad this season. UT scored 22 run in an opening-series affair at Morehead State.
Of the Rockets 20 hits, six went for extra bases. In the bottom of the first alone, UT sent 18 batters to the plate recording eight hits, including five doubles.
Toledo redshirt freshman relief pitcher Adam Hahn (1-0) tossed three scoreless innings to pick up his first collegiate win. Hahn surrendered two hits, striking out four strikeouts.
The Chargers Andy Lovell (4-2), the younger brother of UT pitcher Ben Lovell, was tagged with the loss. Lovell gave up 12 runs on eight hits in 0.1 inning of work.
Toledo returns to action tomorrow, April 30, when the Rockets host Cleveland State in non-conference action. The first pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Scott Park.
