TOLEDO, Ohio - Brian Jones threw for three touchdowns and Trinity Dawson ran for three more as Toledo rallied from a 24-14 deficit to beat Bowling Green, 42-24, on Saturday night to win a share of the Mid-American Conference's West Division title.
Toledo (9-3, 7-1 MAC) will face Marshall (9-2, 7-1) next Saturday on the road in the conference title game. The Rockets tied Northern Illinois for the West crown, but advance to the title game due to their win over the Huskies last week.
After the game, Toledo accepted its second consecutive Motor City Bowl bid. The Rockets will play an undetermined opponent at Ford Field in Detroit on Dec. 26.
After Jones' 20-yard scoring pass to Carl Ford in the first quarter, Bowling Green (9-3, 6-2) answered with 17 straight points. Josh Harris had touchdown runs of 3 and 18 yards, and Shaun Suisham hit a field goal.
Jones hit Andrew Clarke with a 20-yard TD pass, but Harris ran for another score for the Falcons with 20 seconds left in the half to make it 24-14.
Jones connected with Clarke on a 4-yard TD strike in the second half, and Dawson scored on runs of 4, 20 and 1 yard.
Toledo outrushed the Falcons 269-77, and outgained BG in total yards, 502-242.
