PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Tavares Bolden and Carl Ford hooked up for two touchdowns, and Chester Taylor rushed for 99 yards and two scores as Toledo defeated Temple 33-7 Saturday.

Toledo took the lead in the first quarter when Bolden connected with Ford for an 80-yard touchdown pass, the second-longest in Bolden's career and fifth-longest in Toledo history.

They hooked up again in the third quarter to give the Rockets a 19-0 lead. Donta Greene set up the score with a 36-yard diving reception on third down that moved the ball to the Temple 20.

Bolden was 16-for-26 for 227 yards and two interceptions. Ford had four catches for 112 yards.

Toledo (2-0) added two field goals by Todd France, from 34 and 26 yards, in the second quarter to take a 13-0 halftime lead.

Taylor, who rushed for 186 yards in a season-opening rout of Minnesota, capped a 52-yard drive in the fourth quarter when he scored on a 13-yard run with 10:03 left.

He also scored later in the fourth on a 1-yard dive after David Bockmore sacked Temple backup quarterback Mike McGann and forced a fumble that was recovered by Jake McLean.

The Owls (1-1) wasted two scoring opportunities in the first quarter. A botched punt attempt by Toledo gave them the ball on the Rockets' 13-yard line, but Jared Davis' field-goal attempt hit the upright.

Later in the quarter, a 48-yard pass from Devin Scott to Sean Dillard set up the Owls on the Toledo 3, but they couldn't get into the end zone and Cap Poklemba's field-goal try also hit the upright.

Toledo's defense held the Owls to just 65 total yards in the first half and 132 for the game, while the Rockets gained 410 total yards.

Temple's only score came in the fourth quarter when McGann, a true freshman who replaced Scott in the third quarter, threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Greg Muckerson.

Temple, kicked out as a football-playing member of the Big East Conference last March, was given the go-ahead Friday to continue fielding a team through the 2004 season.

The Owls beat Navy in their season opener.
