Huntington, WV - The University of Toledo women's tennis team fell to No. 1 seed Western Michigan at the 2001 Mid-American Conference Championships in Huntington, WV today. WMU knocked out the Rockets with a 4-0 victory.
Whitney Wasielewski led Larissa Chinway, 6-4, 0-1 when the match was called. The Broncos captured No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles along with No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
"Any time you lose it's painful," said UT Coach Jeff Westmeyer. "But we are happy with the way we played. We hoped Western Michigan would overlook us, but unfortunately they came to play."
Toledo completed the year with an overall record of 9-12 and 3-8 in the MAC. UT's nine wins is the most by a Rocket women's tennis squad since the 1992-93 season when the Midnight Blue Gold registered a 13-10 overall mark.
