Toledo, OH - Former University of Toledo baseball player Mike Ernst has been signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians. Ernst will be assigned to one of the club's minor league teams.
Ernst, a 6-0, 206-pound catcher, hails from Mt. Vernon, OH and was a four-year letter winner, earning team MVP honors during his senior season. Ernst set school records for home runs (15) and RBI (54) in the 2000 season. Ernst ranks fourth in career RBI (120) and is tied for third in career home runs (26) at UT.
