Sophomore JJ Scholten is Toledo's Female Athlete of the Week after winning the MAC Individual Tennis Singles Championship on Sunday in Kalamazoo, Mich. Scholten won four singles matchups throughout the weekend against conference opponents and took on teammate Isabella Barretto in the championship match.
Scholten tallied a 6-1, 6-1 win to win the title and earn the automatic bid into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Conference Masters Tournament in San Diego, Calif. on Nov. 6-9. The sophomore picked up where she left off in the 2025 dual season, after earning a 17-0 singles record and being named the MAC Freshman of the Year.
