Rocket alumnus Trey Wright joined the Toledo coaching staff in January 2026.

In his first season in the Rockets’ dugout as an assistant coach, Trey Wright helped Toledo to a 32-29 record, including 21 MAC victories and a third-place finish, and a trip to the MAC Tournament title game.

Wright led the catching unit, which primarily consisted of Jacob Payne and Carson McCaleb. Toledo’s catchers threw out 30 potential base stealers and committed just eight errors throughout the season. Rocket batteries combined on three shutouts and a league-high and program-record 550 strikeouts on the season, while ranking second in the MAC in ERA and opponent average.

Wright also assists with hitting, where Toledo broke three program records and totaled seven top-40 national ranks in the 2026 season. Three hitters were named to All-MAC teams, including Troy Sudbrook, who was named an All-American by national media and coaches in a career season. Sudbrook individually broke two single-season program records.
