Toledo Sets Program Attendance Record Against Notre Dame on Saturday

Rockets establish attendance mark for fourth-straight season with 2,470 fans vs. Fighting Irish
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo women's volleyball set a new program attendance record of 2,470 fans in a 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 19-25, 16-25) setback to Notre Dame in Savage Arena on Saturday.
Toledo topped the attendance record of 2,251 that was set last year against Bowling Green on Oct. 7, 2025. This is the fourth consecutive season the Rockets have set an attendance record.
The Rockets (4-1) had four players record double-figure kills for the first time this season. Ava Siefke led the way with 14 kills, while Lilly Merk poured in 11 terminations on a .500 clip. Jessica Costlow and Kayla Ozanich each had 10 kills, with Costlow chipping in a team-high 14 digs for her first double-double of the season.
Maddy Bach led UT with 21 assists and tallied 12 digs for her first double-double of the year and fifth of her career.Â

Toledo heads to Morgantown, W. Va. for its first road action of the season at the West Virginia Invitational on Thursday-Friday, Sept. 10-11. The Rockets will take on Lehigh, VCU and West Virginia throughout the tournament, beginning with Lehigh on Thursday at 2 p.m.

Key Moments
- The Rockets started off the first set with a 5-0 burst, highlighted by a block from Kayla Ozanich and Sierra Pertzborn and a kill from Ava Siefke. Notre Dame fired off their own 5-0 surge to even the set, 7-7, before three-straight kills from Jessica Costlow helped the Rockets rattle off a 7-0 run to regain the lead, 15-9. Back-to-back aces from Costlow extended the lead to 21-11 and a termination from Lilly Merk put UT at set point, 24-13. Toledo won the set with a Notre Dame serving error.
- The Rockets and Fighting Irish went back-and-forth to begin the second set, as Notre Dame jumped out to a 10-7 lead. Kills from Ozanich and Costlow put Toledo within two, 11-9, but Notre Dame was able to extend its advantage with an ace, 15-11. A 5-1 run for the Fighting Irish put them ahead, 22-16, but the Rockets responded with a 5-1 run of their own to get within two, 23-21. A kill from Lilly Merk kept Toledo within two, 24-22, before Notre Dame fired off a kill to take the set win.
- Toledo and Notre Dame traded points throughout the beginning of the third frame. A quick 4-0 run by the Fighting Irish put them ahead, 13-9, before Costlow rattled off two kills to get UT within two, 15-13. A Notre Dame error pulled Toledo within one, 18-17, before the Fighting Irish were able to extend their lead, 22-17, and take the set win with a kill and Toledo service error.
- Notre Dame jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the fourth set. An ace and a kill from Gabbi LeBlanc kept UT within three, 15-12, but the Fighting Irish were able to stay in front with kills. Audrey Dyas and Siefke kept UT within reach, 20-15, but Notre Dame closed out the set on a 5-1 run to take the match win.
