Nathan Leininger, Michael Fliss and Troy Sudbrook claim honors after Toledo reaches title game
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo starting pitchers Nathan Leininger and Michael Fliss along with infielder Troy Sudbrook were named to the MAC All-Tournament Team, the league office announced at the conclusion of the 2026 Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Â
The trio helped lead Toledo to the MAC Tournament title game for a second-straight season, with wins against Ball State and Kent State to open the tournament, and an elimination game victory against the Golden Flashes to reach the championship game.
Â
Leininger got the tournament started with a career performance after being named MAC Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-MAC earlier in the week. The right-hander threw a complete game against Ball State, with two runs allowed on eight hits, and eight strikeouts to two walks. Leininger got out of a bases-loaded situation twice without allowing a run. The complete game was Toledo's first nine-inning complete game since 2018.
Â
Fliss followed up Leininger with a dominant performance against Kent State. He allowed just one hit in seven shutout innings, with eight strikeouts to two walks. Fliss recorded two strikeouts apiece in the second, third and fourth innings. He allowed just two runners into scoring position and retired 14 of the last 15 batters he faced. Toledo won 8-0 to advance into the semifinal from the winner's bracket.
Â
Sudbrook, a First Team All-MAC selection, hit .429 for the tournament with nine hits, two home runs, five RBIs and five runs scored. He also walked twice and stole two bases. Against Ball State, Sudbrook started his tournament offensively with a home run in the first inning in a 3-for-5 day with two RBIs. The Avon, Ohio native followed that up with a 2-for-4 evening including an RBI single in the Rockets' first win against Kent State. He then helped Toledo advance to the championship game with two more hits and two runs scored in the second bout with the Golden Flashes, including a home run. Sudbrook got in the hit column in all five games and increased his program record RBI total to 71 for the season.
Â
All three Rockets earned their first MAC All-Tournament Team selections of their careers.
Â
The Rockets concluded the 2026 season with a 32-29 record, marking the second time in program history with back-to-back 30-win seasons. Toledo reached the milestone in its tournament win against Ball State.
