Toledo competes in three races at Ford Lake
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Toledo women's rowing team completed the first season in program history on Saturday at the first-ever Mid-American Conference Women's Rowing Championships at Ford Lake.Â
Â
The Rockets competed in two varsity 8+ races and a varsity 4+ race. UT finished with times of 7:14.4 and 7:45.2 in the varsity 8+ races and 9:36.0 in the varsity 4+ race.Â
Â
Quoting Head Coach Chris Bailey-Greene
"It's surreal to build a program from scratch. There are a lot of moving parts, obviously. There are a lot of people who supported the program who were new to the program. There were strengths and weaknesses. We grew through it. The girls were very resilient and understanding. They gained a sense of perspective about rowing. To take a team from nothing to competing in the first-ever MAC Championships was a selfless act in a lot of ways for us. It was cool to get to the end and feel what it's like to go down a race course with five teams that we might see for the next 20-25 years."Â
