Toledo to Head to Hoosier State for MAC Championships

Rockets to compete on Sunday-Tuesday at Holliday Farms Golf Club in Zionsville, Ind.
TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo men's golf team will travel to Zionsville, Ind. this weekend to compete in the 2026 Mid-American Conference Championships. The Rockets will be one of nine schools competing for the opportunity to play in the 2026 NCAA Regionals.
The three-day, 54-hole event will take place on Sunday-Tuesday, May 3-5 at the Holliday Farms Golf Club. Eighteen holes will be played each day with 9:00 a.m. tee times being utilized for all three rounds.
Senior Bence Kotel leads the Rockets with a career-best 72.8 stroke average, with sophomore Bence Bertenyi right behind him at 73.1. The remainder of UT's lineup will include junior Solomon Petrie, redshirt junior Mason Deal and redshirt junior Marijn Hoogeveen. Freshman Braden Herstich also will have the opportunity to compete as a substitute in the second or third round.
Eastern Michigan is the top-ranked team in the field at No. 96 in the Scoreboard Clippd rankings. Also appearing in the Top 150 nationally are Miami (124), Kent State (128) and Toledo (143).

LAST YEAR AT THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Former Rocket Jamie Butler tied for fourth place to lead Toledo and earn a spot on the MAC's all-tournament team. He finished at two-under par over 54 holes and tied for the tournament lead with 15 birdies.
ROCKETS AT THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
• The Rockets have won three league crowns in school history in 1964, 2002 and 2004.
• Toledo also has posted runner-up finishes at the MAC Championships on 11 occasions (1963, 1966, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2013, 2015 and 2022).
• The Rockets have posted a third-place finish or higher in three of the last six MAC Championships.
• Seven Rockets have captured MAC medalist honors. Tim Hirt won three titles (1979, 1980, 1981) with Barend Botha collecting two championships (2023, 2024). Also winning a MAC title were Duncan McNeill (2019), Ciaran McAleavey (2008), Brad Heaven (2004), and Mike Stone (1992).Tim Rice tied for first place in 1997, and Jamie Tofte Nielsen finished in a three-way tie for first in 2022.
