Team establishes new marks for 18 hole and 54 holes with Brooks Pawlak shooting 14-under
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The Toledo men's golf team finished with a school-record 54-hole total of 40-under par on Wednesday en route to a third-place finish at No. 8 East Tennessee State's Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The Rockets also established a new 18-hole record with their 17-under 271 today and finished just two strokes behind tournament champion VCU at the par-72, 7,147-yard Blackthorn Club.
"I'm incredibly proud of the resilience our guys showed throughout the week," Head Coach Jeff Roope said. "It certainly wasn't perfect, but they continued to fight from start to finish and never backed down. This is a great way for us to finish the fall season, and hopefully it gives us some confidence and motivation to carry into the rest of the year."
Senior Brooks Pawlak led the Rockets by tying for third place and setting a school record of his own with a 14-under par 202 (67-70-65). His score broke the previous mark set by Barend Botha and Palmer Yenrick at the 2023 Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational.
Junior Bence Bertenyi also registered his fourth straight Top 10 showing by tying for seventh place with a career-low 11-under 205 (68-68-69).
Junior Zane Aiken tied for 14th place by shooting his second-consecutive 5-under 67 to finish the tourney at 8-under.
Sophomore Harry McArdle tied for 27th place at 4-under, while sophomore Braden Herstich tied for 33rd place with a career-best 3-under 213.
