Troy Sudbrook Takes MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Sudbrook hit .529 last week, including a multi-homer game against Miami
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo baseball junior Troy Sudbrook has been named the Mid-American Conference's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced this week.

Sudbrook's honor comes after a strong week against Michigan and Miami. He had multi-hit games in all four contests, hitting .529 (9-of-17) for the week with two home runs, six RBIs and six runs scored. He totaled an on-base percentage of .556 and a slugging percentage of 1.000 for the week. He also had two doubles, finishing the week with 22 for season, which leads NCAA Division I.

Sudbrook had two hits each against Michigan on April 14 and on Friday and Saturday against Miami. This included a two-run double against the Wolverines. On Sunday, Sudbrook bolstered Toledo's offensive explosion with a 3-for-4 day with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored. Sudbrook had his second multi-HR game of the season and tied his career high in runs scored. The home runs came in back-to-back at bats in the second and third innings.

The Avon, Ohio native won the award for the second time this season and third time in his career.

The MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week is awarded to one male and one female student-athlete who has at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a worthy performance in that week's competition. Sudbrook is pursuing his MBA after graduating in the fall with a degree in finance. He holds a 4.0 cumulative GPA.

The Rockets are back in action on Friday, beginning a three-game series at Bowling Green in the Battle of I-75, presented by Fremont Federal Credit Union.
