Rocket junior is one of 50 Division I players selected as a semifinalist for nation's best shortstop
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo junior shortstop Charlie Scholvin has been selected as a semifinalist for the College Baseball Hall of Fame Brooks Wallace Award, the College Baseball Foundation announced on Wednesday.

Scholvin was selected as a semifinalist among 50 shortstops in Division I. He was just one of two shortstops from the Mid-American Conference selected to the list (Michael Maloney – Western Michigan).

In 40 games this season, Scholvin has hit .338 with a .462 on-base percentage, 52 hits, 34Â RBIs, 44Â runs scored, 10 doubles, two home runs and 21 stolen bases. Scholvin leads the team with 21 walks and is tied for the team lead with 17 hit-by-pitches. He leads the team with 19Â multi-hit games, has 12Â multi-run games and nine multi-RBI games. He also reached 100 career runs scored during Toledo's series win against Akron.

In the MAC rankings, Scholvin is third in stolen bases (21), fifth in runs scored (44) and sixth in hits (52). Scholvin's 21 steals are also tied for 47th nationally.

In the field, Scholvin, a team captain, has a .969 fielding percentage, with just four errors on 130 chances in the field.

The Brooks Wallace Award is presented annually to the nation's best shortstop. Finalists and the award winner will be selected later in the spring.
