Sophomore registers season-best four-under par 67 in second round
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sophomore Bence Bertenyi registered the best showing of his collegiate career by tying for sixth place on Sunday to lead the Toledo men's golf team to a strong final two rounds at the Hoosier Collegiate. The Rockets moved up two spots in the standings today to finish in 11th place at the par-71, 7,355-yard Pfau Course at Indiana University.
Bertenyi carded the Rockets' best round of the tournament in difficult scoring conditions when he completed the second round this morning with a season-best four-under par 67. He then helped UT register its best round of the tournament with a four-over par 75 in the final round.Â
Junior Solomon Petrie topped Toledo in the third round with a one-over par 72 with senior Bence Kotel shooting a two-over 73.
No. 39 Kansas captured the team title at 20-over par, three shots in front of No. 13 Illinois and eight ahead of No. 41 Purdue.
The Fighting Illini's Freddie Turnell captured medalist honors with a one-under par 212 competing as an individual.
Toledo will now prepare for the Mid-American Conference Championships on Sunday-Tuesday, May 3-5 at the Holliday Farms Golf Club in Zionsville, Ind.
