TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo softball All-American Rhonda King-Randolph was named to the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame, the league announced on Friday.
King-Randolph, who passed away in 2025, is one of six honorees who will be inducted into the MAC Hall of Fame alongside Tom Borrelli (Central Michigan Wrestling Head Coach), Dave Jamerson (Ohio Men's Basketball), Bill Richards (Ball State Men's Tennis Head Coach), Jim Streeter (Eastern Michigan Administrator/Sports Information Director) and Jason Taylor (Akron Football).
King-Randolph became the first Rocket woman ever to earn All-America honors when she was named First Team All-America by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in 1990. During the 1990 season, she led the country with 13 home runs and 57 RBIs, adding a .773 slugging percentage, all school records at the time.
In 1989, King-Randolph led Toledo to a MAC championship, an NCAA Regional title and a berth into the Women's College World Series. Throughout her four-year career at Toledo, she played on Rocket teams that won 131 games overall and went 64-34 in MAC play, finishing in the top three in the league three times.
King-Randolph was a three-time First Team All-MAC player (1987, 1989, 1990) and earned MAC Player of the Year honors in 1990. She still ranks in Toledo top 10 in the following career categories – RBIs (1st/131), doubles (2nd/42), total bases (2nd/311) and walks (2nd/79), slugging percentage (4th/.494), home runs (7th/19) and games played (4th/227).
Following her playing career, King-Randolph coached travel softball, then took a position in 1998 as the very first head softball coach at Kenyon College, coaching the Owls for two seasons. She also stepped in and coached Highland Sparta High School for one season in 2001. She continued coaching as a hitting instructor for Grand Slam USA and at Mount Vernon Nazerene for many years.
King-Randolph graduated from Toledo in 1990 with a degree in public relations and was inducted into the Varsity T Hall of Fame in 1998, becoming the third softball player in program history to join.
The 2026 MAC Hall of Fame class will be inducted on Thursday, May 30 at Hotel Cleveland. Ticket information for the 2026 MAC honors dinner and Hall of Fame celebration will be announced at a later date.Â
