Samantha Bolding crushes first homer of season against Ramblers
RALEIGH, N.C. – The Toledo softball team fell in non-conference matchups against Loyola Chicago and NC State on Friday at the Wolfpack Classic in Raleigh, N.C.
Sophomore Samantha Bolding crushed a two-run homer in the Rockets' 5-3 loss to the Ramblers to tie the contest in the top of the seventh. Loyola closed out the game in the bottom of the frame though with a two-run walk-off home run.
Bolding's two-run shot was her first of the season and 14th of her career. Junior pitcher Mady Yackee appeared in the circle in relief, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing just one run on three hits. She also struck out three batters.
UT fell to NC State in the second contest of the day, 6-0, with the Wolfpack holding the Rockets' offense to just two hits. Yackee appeared in relief again and allowed just three hits in 4.2 scoreless innings of work.

Toledo continues play at the Wolfpack Classic on Saturday, Feb. 28 with two games. The Rockets will face Lehigh at 12:00 p.m. and close out the day against NC State at 5:00 p.m.
