Neha Guru wins her third singles match in last four outings
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Toledo women's tennis team fell to No. 55 ranked Dartmouth, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich.
Toledo's lone victory came on the No. 4 single court where sophomore Neha Guru captured a 7-5, 6-4 win. Guru has won three of her last four contests, with all three being straight-set victories. Two of the othe five singles courts went into decisive third sets, including JJ Scholten who fought through two tiebreaker sets on the No. 1 court, 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 7-6 (7-4).
The doubles point came down to the No. 3 court in a 7-6 (7-3) tiebreaker set. Dartmouth won the No. 1 court while Toledo's Anastasia Akuginova and Gaby Rondon won the No. 2 court in a 7-6 (7-2) tiebreaker.
Quoting Head Coach Tracy Mauntler
"I'm typically not satisfied when we lose, but my young team showed who they really are this weekend. We had back-to-back battles against great teams and I'm thrilled with the way we competed. This middle part of our schedule is so tough but we will be ready for our MAC season because of it."
