Anastasia Akuginova picked up her fifth singles win of the season
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Toledo women's tennis team fell to Michigan State, 4-3, in a close match that came down to the final singles court.
Michigan State won the doubles point after picking up wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. The Spartans then took a 3-1 lead after grabbing wins on the No. 1 and No. 5 as Toledo (4-3) picked up a point on the No. 2 court.
Freshman Anastasia Akuginova picked up her fifth singles win of the season on the No. 4 court while junior Gaby Rondon won a three-set match on the No. 6 court to even the match at 3-3 overall.
The match came down to the No. 3 singles court. Neha Guru dropped the first set in a 13-11 tiebreaker before picking up a 6-4 win in the second set. The sophomore then dropped the decisive set, 6-1, to Matilde Morris as the Spartans took the win.

"I'm so incredibly proud of this squad and the fight they showed tonight. We were down two starters and the team really stepped up. Seeing the improvement tonight was exciting to watch."
