Rocket sophomore selected among 105 relief pitchers by National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo right-handed pitcher Braden Curry was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Watch List, it was announced earlier this week.

The Rocket sophomore was selected among 105 players representing 18 conferences in NCAA Division I.

Last season, Curry put together a stellar freshman campaign, logging 42.2 innings in 17 appearances, with a 3.16 earned run average, 45 strikeouts to 23 walks and a .227 opponent batting average. He also totaled three saves and a 2-0 record. Curry only allowed one home run in 2025.

Curry's performances last season included a 3.1-inning save against Akron in which he allowed just one hit in a scoreless effort to preserve a 1-0 win. In the MAC Tournament, he pitched 4.0 innings to close out an elimination game against Eastern Michigan, allowing just one run on two hits, with a season-high seven strikeouts.

The Stopper of the Year award recognizes the top relief pitcher in college baseball. The mid-season watch list will be announced in April, with finalists and the winner announced in June.

Toledo opens up its season on Friday, Feb. 13 at Memphis. First pitch is at 5:00 p.m.
