MUNCIE, Ind. – The Toledo track and field team wrapped up competition at the We Fly Challenge hosted by Ball State in Muncie, Ind. on Saturday.
The Rockets had the top six finishers and eight of the top-10 in the 1500m. Sophomore
Lianna Surtz took first (4:25.75),
Karina James placed second (4:25.92) and
Alex Bauer finished third (4:27.08).
Bailey Ranta earned fourth (4:30.51) while
Gabby Phelan was fifth (4:33.46) and
Lauren Zanotelli in sixth (4:33.47).
Morgan Hicks and
Melody Jebiwot rounded out the top 10 for Toledo.
Senior
Emily Vining took first in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:35.60. In the 800m,
Cadence Christie placed second with a mark of 2:14.60 while
Margrett Watt followed in fifth with a time of 2:17.86.
The 4x400m relay team of
Sydney Caddell,
Hailey Slagle,
Makenna Englund,
Chloe Pyles recorded a second-place finish with a final time of 4:23.04.
On the men's side, Loann Brelievet and Peter McMahon finished first and second, respectively, in the 1500m. Brelivet had a final time of 3:58.15 while McMahon had a mark of 3:59.66.

Toledo will split squads between the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif (April 16-18)., and the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. (April 17-18) next weekend.
